A 72-hour rule

“I will start this project later”, “I’ll start planning later”, “I’ll think of it tomorrow”, “I have zero energy”, “a cool case, but not for me”. Admit it, we often say such things.

Every day, dozens of critical tasks are postponed simply because we do not believe in their implementation. Insecurity, fear and laziness interfere... “Just do it” seems rather challenging. It’s easier to postpone things. People are waiting for Monday, better times, a lucky alignment of stars, a sign from above.

The famous German expert and writer, Bodo Schäfer, believes that there is a 72-hour rule, according to which, if you postpone any task for three days then it will never be finished. By changing habits and starting to perform tasks in the first 72 hours, in 99% of cases a person can achieve the goal and realize the desired plan.

A fishing rule

You probably know the fisherman’s parable: you can give a man a fish, and he will be fed for one day, you can teach a man how to fish, and he will be fed all his life.

Who are you today? A man demanding fish from someone so as not to starve to death?

Or a fisherman who knows how to get an excellent catch?

By constantly telling a person what needs to be done, he/she will carry out routine instructions and orders, but will neither move closer to the goal nor make any progress.
