Shah Rukh Khan: success consists of difficulties
Global IndiaGold

“The God who gives us life and the problems and roadblocks, also makes us find ways to overcome those.”

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most famous and highly paid Indian actors. He is called the “King of Bollywood.” He is the record holder for the number of Filmware Awards for Best Actor — the most prestigious film award in India.

By looking at this outstanding actor, one can get the impression that his whole life consists of meteoric ups and triumphal victories. But this is not so. Shah Rukh’s path to success was full of difficulties, losses and failures.

Let’s find out what tests the actor had endured and what lessons he learned from them.

From zero to hero

When Shah Rukh was 15, his father died of cancer, and after ten years the same illness claimed his mother’s life. The movie star recalled that with the death of his parents, a void settled in his soul that needed to be filled with something. He found a way out, fully devoting himself to filming.

When the aspiring actor moved to Mumbai, he only had 1,500 rupees and he hoped to earn at least a lakh. Khan had to experience all the difficulties of poverty. He recalled that once he was kicked out in the street because he could not pay the rent. The future “King of Bollywood” starred in films that other actors turned down, just to have at least some work.

Shah Rukh Khan says that one needs to pass through some stages of failure in order to succeed. He believes it’s not the absence of failure that makes one successful, but it’s one's response to it.

The pain is not fatal

Even today, being at the peak of fame, the actor has to overcome difficulties. Shah Rukh Khan is known for regularly injuring himself on the film set. His shoulders, knee, and spine have been damaged, and, on top of it all, he suffered a head injury in 2014.

For many years, the actor has been forced to overcome pain and at the same time act in films, staying in good shape. At some point, the inability to cope with the pain plunged Shah Rukh Khan into depression. But the solid character and the lessons learned at the beginning of his life helped the Bollywood King to pull himself together and not give up his passion. To this day, the legend of Indian cinema continues to entertain the audience with his great performance.

A role model

Shah Rukh Khan had many reasons to sink into despair and give up. Yet the actor was not stopped by the lack of money, he was capable of withstanding pain and depression. He moved forward with determination, perceiving difficulties as useful lessons.

The experience of people like Shah Rukh Khan formed the basis of the Success Framework Workbook, a tool that is aimed to help overcome obstacles, drawing valuable lessons from them, and focus on goals.
